A Model 113, the final version of buggy-styled original Monocoupe. Note wing-like strut fairings and strut from wing root. Adding just 10 hp to the tiny 55-hp Velie gave this plane all the 85-mph cruise, 100-mph top, of the Model 70, plus a practical 500-lb. payload (vs. the 70’s mere 215 lbs.). In a "113 Special" (80-hp Armstrong-Siddely Genet), Phoebe Omlie set a 24,500-ft. women’s lightplane altitude record on June 29, 1929. (Photo by Charles E. Stewart)
